DGHE is the higher education division of David Game College. Established in 1974 the College is Ofsted inspected and QAA reviewed with a reputation for quality and academic excellence.

With an expanding course portfolio and growing student body we now require an enthusiastic, hard-working and experienced Student Services Officer to join the DGHE team from May/June 2019.

You will support the Head of Student Services in ensuring the highest professional service standards are provided in relation to all administrative and academic support services. You will also serve in a supporting role in providing information, advice and guidance on college welfare services.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE:                         STUDENT SERVICES OFFICER

REPORTS TO:              Registrar (and Head of Student Services)

OTHER KEY RELATIONSHIPS:  Head of Admissions, Head of Academic Administration

SUMMARY:

The Student Services Officer will support the Head of Student Services in ensuring the highest professional service standards are provided in relation to all administrative and academic support services. You will also serve in a supporting role in providing information, advice and guidance on college welfare services.

DUTIES INVOLVE:

MAIN:

  • Student Support/Administration: On a daily basis, support and guide students regarding their timetable, grades, submission and resubmission of assignments, attendance, progression files and Edexcel registration. Deal with telephone, personal and email enquiries. Meeting face-to-face with students to give general support and advice.
  • VLE (Moodle) - Provide support to students with uploading assignments and helping them how to check feedback.
  • Tutor support: Provide support to tutors in the use of the College’s VLE and Turnitin. Printing/copying and filing where necessary. Tracking and supporting ILP’s.
  • Meetings: Assist in the preparation of agendas and write up minutes.
  • Attendance: Prepare/review daily registers, monitor implementation, monitor student’s attendance on a daily basis, contact/chase absent students and issue appropriate warnings. Produce weekly attendance reports for the Registrar.
  • File Management:Ensure student files are up-to date and complete and in line with GDPR guidelines.
  • Diversity monitoring: Termly, produce Student Profiles to include data such as age, gender, ethnicity, work experience, etc.
  • Student feedback: Distribute termly student feedback questionnaires, analyse results and present report to Registrar and Programme Leader.
  • Library: Assisting with book ordering and displaying new books, maintaining records of books borrowed by students.
  • Supporting the Senior Officer with all relevant day-to-day admin tasks

 SUBSIDIARY:

  • Admissions: Supporting the admissions team by assisting with the enrolment process of students and providing admin support on induction days.

GENERAL:

The above duties are subject to change at the discretion of the College and shall include other reasonable responsibilities as the College may from time to time assign.

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION

The applicant should have high levels of personal and professional competence in a higher education setting, be an excellent communicator and prepared to work hard and contribute to a busy, performance driven team. They should also have:

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • BTEC HND or Bachelors degree (or equivalent level 5/6 qualification)
  • A minimum of one years’ experience of working in an education/training environment
  • Knowledge of UK education systems
  • Proficient MS Office user and other job specific software/platforms
  • Familiarity with Moodle (or similar VLE)
  • Knowledge of SFE student finance/loans an advantage
