The College

Established in 1974, David Game College is an Ofsted inspected, QAA reviewed and OfS registered independent FE/HE College with a reputation for quality and academic excellence.

We deliver a range of level 4/5 Pearson BTEC HNDs and franchised undergraduate degrees in business, health, public services and creative arts.

The Position

English for Academic Purposes (EAP) provides core language and academic skills support for students at the DGHE. The College is looking towards further developing its global profile and attracting more international students: the key focus for EAP is supporting those students to ensure they thrive and gain maximum benefit from their DGHE experience. As the EAP tutor, you will provide insight and direction for the EAP service and its collaboration with curriculum delivery. You will deliver a coherent and inclusive EAP support programme, liaising closely with staff in academic programmes to improve understanding of EAP, ensure support is relevant and effective, and provide workshops, taught sessions, and individual tutorial support.

We welcome your application if you have a TEFL qualification, such as the CELTA or other suitable English teaching qualification and experience in designing, planning, and delivering a coherent programme of language support. Experience of working with HE students, and experience of, and interest in, working with mature students, would also be a distinct advantage.

Start date: May 2021

About You

The position will suit someone with a qualification in teaching or who has extensive education and training experience especially at undergraduate level. You will have worked with adult students who have unrealised potential but have either not had the opportunity to realise it or have not taken the opportunity previously. You will have the ability and experience to use innovative and engaging teaching methods, relevant to adult learners, as well as the patience and skills to encourage, nurture and develop students from a wide variety of educational backgrounds and initial abilities.

You should be a graduate and have experience in teaching Study Skills and/or English for Academic Purposes within a HE context. Experience of preparing and delivering bespoke support that is integrated into the curriculum would also be an advantage. You must be fluent in English, both written and oral, be able to provide effective feedback to students and have strong interpersonal and organisational skills. It is essential that you are highly IT literate and a proficient user of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. You must also be familiar with Moodle (or similar VLE), Turnitin and Grademark.
