Andreia is a lecturer, consultant and author with extensive experience in different industries. With a law background Andreia spent her first years of her career working as a solicitor for business and international law in Portugal. She worked extensively with corporate companies in Portugal acting in the capacity of a solicitor where she gained insight on business practices and procedures.
After moving to England, she decided to pursue an MBA while working in sales and marketing for UNICEF, World Vision and later for Santander UK.
She is currently a visiting lecturer at several London universities where she teaches marketing, business strategy and corporate social responsibility and ethics modules. She is also a management consultant and trainer in digital marketing, marketing strategy, and sustainable marketing. She is a published author in reputed academic journals and has her own Blog ‘Confessions of Millennial Manager’.
Alexander is an experienced lecturer with more than 20 years of lecturing of Business Management and Information Technology modules at several UK universities – undergraduate and graduate level. Quite a few of his former students built successful managerial and academic careers.
He is a Full Member of British Computer Society and Royal Television Society, which reflect his interest in Information Technology as such and digital economy in particular.
Alexander served as a Marketing Manager and IT Manager at a few educational institutions. He participates in developing a VLE for DGHE Study Skills programme and continues doing freelance jobs as a web designer and webmaster.
He helped a number of foreign universities to establish links and start collaborative programmes with UK HE institutions and examining bodies, organised and moderated a few international conferences. For these activities, he received a few educational awards including an Honorary Doctorate from Ukrainian Petro Mohyla National University.
Steven has worked in Supply Chain, Operations and Strategy Management at a global level for almost twenty years, including roles with household names like Sony, Vodafone and Deliveroo. His experience spans several different industries, and companies of all sizes: from the world’s largest shipping company to relatively small, family-owned enterprises. He has been based in the UK, Hong Kong, Sweden, Germany and Denmark; he has also worked on projects in several other countries, including leadership of several business system rollouts on a global scale.
A firm supporter of lifelong learning, his professional and academic careers have developed in tandem. Steven completed his first degree while serving in the British Army, before moving into a career in business in 2001. He originally worked in the field of Logistics, then moved on to develop his experience as a Supply Chain generalist.
After completing his first degree, Steven undertook postgraduate study in law (the Common Professional Examination) at the University of Central England, followed by an MBA at the University of Leicester. His research interests focus on the field of strategy as practice; in particular, the nexus between the strategic objectives companies set out to achieve, compared with what they ultimately achieve in practice.
Prosperine begun her teaching career in Zambia and taught at secondary and university level.
After moving to England, she pursued an MA in health and social policy while working for Westminster Mind as a befriender and Mencap as a support worker. An MA and social care experience enabled her gain an insight of the health and social care system in the UK.
Prosperine is also a qualified worked based assessor and has been assessing students in different care settings for the past 8 years.
Prosperine’s interests are on contemporary issues in health.
She recently joined DGHE.
Bruce is an experienced senior management professional having served as group Marketing director of a South African hospital group listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, and as CEO of a pan African medical insurance and health management group with offices in Egypt, Tanzania, Kenya, Ghana and Rwanda. After moving to England in 2003, he changed his career to that of an academic, trainer and consultant. In England, he has also served as a director of a NHS Acute Trust, a Community Association and a Mental Health charity in London.
A Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a Member of the Institute of Directors , he is also a visiting lecturer at a number of London based universities and colleges in the subject areas of strategy, marketing and leadership. He has an extensive publication record in peer reviewed journals, and is on the editorial board of a leading healthcare management journal, and a director of an environmental management institute.
Since graduating in a BSc (Hons) degree in Criminology and Sociology, Jack Adams has pursued an academic career developing his research interests in Criminal Justice Policy and the idea of implementing a Universal Basic Income as a new form of income distribution. Jack has also completed his MSc in Social Policy and Social Research from UCL which has expanded his understanding of contemporary social problems, the policy making process and research methodologies. Starting as a researcher – looking at cross-European comparisons of being on remand and critical reflections on policy differences – Jack progressed to become an Associate Lecturer at Buckinghamshire New University and is now our newest Public Services Lecturer at DGHE
Adnan has taught on a number of sociology and criminology modules at the University of Surrey, while undertaking his PhD research on community solutions to youth offending in Syria. His research explores whether the Syrian community can take on a role which can rehabilitate young people and prevent them from engaging in offending. Prior to continuing his studies on doctoral level, he graduated with an LLB (Hons) in International Law and completed his MSc in Criminology, Criminal Justice and Social Research from the University of Surrey. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Starting as a researcher, Adnan provided advisory opinion and research on matters related to the religious liberty and the human rights of the ethnic and religious minorities in the Middle East and North Africa. He also assessed corruption in the defence and security sector in Egypt and Syria and developed and delivered training and teaching materials on security sector reform for Syrian civilians. He is a qualified Restorative Justice associate practitioner and a panel member with Camden Youth Offending Service (YOS) in London.
Ruth Brooks is a highly personable workplace innovator with extensive experience of the creative public sector (including central government experience) and of charity environments. Her talents lie in facilitation, analytical business improvement, strong communication and partnership building.
After having achieved success in helping existing organisations with business improvement as an employee Ruth became a business owner in August 2015, taking over operational control of a private Art school in London. Since taking over she has overseen an increase in both turnover and profit in her first two years at the helm as well as overseeing an enormous increase in high level passes for our qualifications. Ruth is also a programme leader of the School of Art & Design overseen all the art school at DGHE.
Adrian has a BA in English and translation studies from the Catholic University of Santiago and an MA in Applied Linguistics and ELT from Kings College London, and has taught on the BA English and other linguistics based programmes in both South America and the UK.
Adrian’s broader interests are the pedagogical models underlying academic literacy, learning analytics and language teaching methodology. He is also a self-motivated Linux connoisseur with experience in digitisation and automation of data systems and has worked on projects that range from search-engine optimisation for KYC due diligence purposes to Computer Aided Translation (CAT). At DGHE he is currently involved in projects with a focus on English for Academic Purposes (EAP), Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and blended learning.
