    Ruth Brooks

    Programme Leader, School of Art & Design

    Ruth Brooks graduated at the University of Exeter in BA Film Studies with honours. After graduation, she worked in several positions and companies such as Strategy Co-coordinator at 21st Century Literacy and Film Co-coordinator at Creative Skillset. Since 2015 she is is Managing Director at Blake College.

    Juliet Sugg

    Graphic Design Lecturer

    Juliet Sugg is an award-winning lecturer and artist specialising in illustration and narrative art.

    Her work as an authorial illustrator pushes the boundaries of visual narrative, using multidisciplinary approaches that position the viewer inside the story, taking the form of 'live' graphic novels. Confessional sometimes, difficult subject matter are wrapped inside deceptively sugary imagery. Combining drawing, performance and installation art, she has been commissioned both commercially and personally for various projects including the Whitechapel Gallery, Southbank Centre and the Whitstable Biennale. Juliet is interested in the evolution of folklore, authorial illustration and immersive art.  

    With over 10 years of teaching experience, Juliet is also a Lecturer on MA Illustration and Visual Media at London College of Communication,  University of the Arts London. Her approach to teaching puts an emphasis on the student as the author, with a passion for developing their unique voices and a sense of ambition within the potential of contemporary visual communication.

    Lisa Byrne

    Photography Lecturer

    Lisa Byrne international profile exists through exhibition, publication and collection since 1995, most notably showing at the Guggenheim Museums world-wide in 2010. She has an MA in Fine Art, specialising in Photography from the Royal College of Art in London graduating in 2007. The Royal College have recently been selected again as the worlds number one art school in the world. In 2003 Lisa graduated from the University of Greenwich with a PGCE and have a BA Honours in Fine Art from Middlesex University in 1996. This included an exchange program with Cooper Union where she studied film, photography and painting, in 1995. Lisa have taught since 1997, giving her twenty two years teaching experience delivering to a broad range of learners, from HE and FE to teaching community groups.

    Patricia Mulligan

    Photography Lecturer

    Patricia Mulligan is a Painting & Drawing tutor and also our Head of Art Foundation. She has a BA in Fine Art from Goldsmiths University, having earlier gained an MA in General Arts at Edinburgh University (specialising in art history & anthropology), and a Masters in 3D Design & IT from Birmingham City University (specialising in digital design and animation). She has worked as a set designer and extensively as a digital designer, prior to concentrating on work as a visual artist and lecturer. All of these experiences inform her practice which is rooted in painting, printmaking, animation and writing. She is currently studying furthering her postgraduate studies with Turps Banana, and regularly participates in group shows, currently working a couple of exhibitions for late in 2018.
